With some of the most technically advanced machinery being used at our manufacturing facilities, we can create circular, triangular, and even arched windows fitted with double glazing. With the knowledge that all of the windows we create here at Majestic Designs are rated A+14 as standard, you can benefit from ultimate energy-efficiency.

Double glazing security

Not only is double glazing beneficial for noise reduction and thermal and energy-efficiency, it can also help increase your Bridgwater home’s security. Helping to give you peace of mind every day.

Majestic Designs makes sure it manufactures all double glazed windows with the highest quality materials, conforming to British standards. By using double glazing, which is tougher than standard glass, our added security features will increase your knowledge that your home is highly secure.

Secure multi-point Yale locks: Yale multi-point locks are locked at multiple points along the frame for maximum security. When these locks are installed, you will be able to leave the window open slightly for ventilation and airflow, whilst still securing your window. Here at Majestic Designs we only use locks from reliable and trustworthy suppliers for our double glazing windows installed in Bridgwater.

Internal beading: When describing our double glazing as ‘internally beaded’, we mean that the beading is placed on the inside of your frame, facing your room, as opposed to being placed externally. Beading is a plastic strip placed on the edge of the glass and holds the double glazed glass panes in the frame. Whilst the beading can be removed, especially if it is external, internal beading cannot be accessed from the outside. All of our double glazing is internally beaded as standard, offering higher security to your Bridgwater home.

Double glazing maintenance

Once our Double Glazing window installers have fitted your new windows, your Bridgwater home will stand out from your neighbours. Even though the pristine, just out of the showroom look will slowly ease off when it comes into contact with different weather, dirt, and grime, there are some simple TLC steps you can take to keep them looking fresh.

The uPVC double-glazing windows we manufacture here at Majestic Designs are almost maintenance-free, unlike traditional hard or softwood frames. They will not need new coats of exterior paint and will not be susceptible to rotting, swelling or shrinking. All they will need is a simple clean of the frames and double glazed panes every so often to keep them looking new.

After you have removed any cobwebs, dust, or dirt, you will be able to simply use a sponge and warm, soapy water. This will help remove the natural build-up of grime. If you feel, however, that the uPVC double glazed windows on your Bridgwater home need a deeper clean, you can use a specialist uPVC cleaner.

Make sure that you avoid using bleach, cream cleaners, and abrasive scouring pads when cleaning your uPVC windows. These products could leave scratches and marks on both the frames and the double glazing panes.

To keep your double glazing in tip-top condition, make sure that your hinges and handles are kept clean and in good working order. If you feel them getting stiff or difficult to open, use a lubricating spray, such as WD40. This will allow you to open your windows smoothly. You can also spray WD40 into your window locks to ensure the keys can easily slide in and turn.

FAQs

What is double glazing?

Double glazing uses two panes of 4mm glass instead of just one which is then sealed into uPVC or Aluminium framework. Between the two panes of glass, there is a 20mm space bar. This gap is filled with a mixture of air and at least 90% argon gas. By sealing the gas between panes, your home increases its insulation, staying warmer in the colder months and becomes more energy efficient.

Double Glazing can prevent up to 60% of the heat from your house escaping. This is what makes double glazing so energy-efficient and popular with homeowners in Bridgwater.

What does double glazing do?

The main job of Double Glazing is to improve and increase heat insulation and energy efficiency. It also reduces noise from outside filtering into your Bridgwater home. The two panes of glass and the gap are vital to helping this happen.

To increase the heat insulation, double glazing minimises the amount of heat that is transferred from the insides to the outside. The argon gas filled into the 20mm gap helps to improve the insulation. The wider the gap, the more argon gas inside, the better your insulation. The second pane of gas acts as another barrier, helping to stop heat escaping your home. These three aspects combined help to greatly reduce the amount of noise that seeps into your home from the outside world.

What’s the energy rating of double glazing?

Any windows with double glazing you have installed in your Bridgwater home will help to improve how warm and energy-efficient your rooms are. If installed correctly, they can reduce how much heat is lost through your windows, which will help to reduce your energy bills. So not only will they help the environment, but they will also help you save money.

Double Glazing is rated on its energy efficiency on a scale from A to G. A is the most energy-efficient and G is the least. You can also get double glazed windows that have + and – ratings. The higher the grade, the less heat is lost.

All uPVC windows manufactured across the UK have to be rated and verified by the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC). Their rating system goes from A – E with A++ being the best rating achievable. Here at Majestic Designs, we use this verified rating system, and all of our uPVC double glazed windows are rated A+14 as standard.

Will double glazing help lower my energy bill?

Yes, double glazing can help save you money by lowering your energy bill. How much you can save, depends on how many of your windows are double-glazed and what rating they all have. As an example, if you own a detached house in Bridgwater and replace all your single glazed windows with our A+14 double glazed windows, you could save around £115 a year according to the Energy Trust.

If you have a terraced house with homes on either side, you would need less energy to heat it, and therefore would lose less heat as well. Replacing all single-pane windows in your Bridgwater home with double glazing could lead to a saving of around £60 a year.

I already have double glazing - does it need replacing?

Double glazing should be effective for around 20 years after installation into your Bridgwater home. Offering long-lasting durability. However, if your double glazing windows are not insulating your home as well as they should be, then you should consider getting them replaced.

If you move into a home that already has double glazing installed and are not sure how old the windows are, there are some things to look out for to see if they need replacing. If you feel a draught or notice any leaks, you should check the frame for any cracks or signs of warping or general wear and tear in the uPVC. You should also keep an eye for any discolouration or misting of the glass. This is a sign that the seals need to be replaced.

Here at Majestic Designs, we offer a 10-year warranty on all double glazing installed into homes in Bridgwater as standard.

Is double glazing better than secondary glazing?

Simply put, yes it is. Whilst secondary glazing works similarly to double glazing, it is nowhere near as effective or energy efficient. Secondary panes are a poor substitute for the energy and thermally efficient double glazing.

Secondary panes are fixed, with no seal, to the inside of single-paned windows. Due to this, there is no pressure difference between inside your home and outside. They offer little to no energy savings or noise reduction. Secondary glazing was originally used as a cheaper option to double glazing on Bridgwater homes. This was due to double glazing being an expensive option three to four decades ago. With double glazing now being much more affordable, it will pay for itself over the years in energy savings.

Does my double glazing need to be white?

Whilst most uPVC windows are white, here at Majestic Designs, we can offer a wide range of colours for you to choose from for your frames. We understand that every home is different, and the standard white colour may not fit in with your home.

All of our colour choices are just as durable as the standard white. With a selection of colours, we are confident that you will find a colour to suit the style of your home. Our double glazing frame colours include:

  • White
  • White Woodgrain
  • Cream
  • Chartwell Green
